What can I do to minimize leak damage?

You can minimize water damage by making some small holes in the sheetrock in the leaking area. Use a small screw driver, ice pick or knife. This will let the water pass through and help keep it from soaking in. **Only make holes where there is actually water coming through. Don’t do it if your ceiling is only stained.
